This may fall into scraps eventually since it's not polished or anything. But you know how it goes with scraps So few people look at them!

Eh, just a quicky doodle / coloring job on a reference image I did for myself for the land dragon mount of one of my characters for a project that's lingering over my head in the background. I've been feeling burnt out lately, so just screwing around and quick coloring random crap is kinda making me feel better little by little.

I forgot how much easier it is to do beasts and creatures than people since there are no real boundaries you have to really stick with for them. And since we see humans every day, beasties are almost always going to look more interesting, even if they're simple!

I haven't drawn a dragon-type thingie in like 5+ years. So that was interesting. XD I'll have to add his rider / owner one day... in at least a height comparison chart or something.

In the world for this story, dragons (actually called "Melcatell Serpents") are essentially very intelligent animals. Think, like the dolphin. They may be plotting an insurrection, but you'd never know because they don't talk about it, and they can only communicate with one another. They have no human forms or anything, either. They come in all shapes, sizes and colors, but are native only to the Melcatell Islands. They live an average of 200 years (the larger they are, the longer they live, too.)

Anateras (pronounced Ah-na-TEAR-us) is a young ( 20 years old) Land Dragon who is starting to grow wing buds on his shoulders ( those are those weird spindly things on his shoulders that don't look like much of anything XD ) though even if he does grow wings he'll probably never fly because they'll never be big enough / he's waaay too heavy.
